04/05/15 - Disneyland

This is the first real vacation I've been on for quite a few years, and I've got to say it was definitely the best (thanks for being such a great travel-buddy, Jen!). Jen and I were in Anaheim for six days (Saturday, May 15th to Thursday, May 20th), which was the perfect amount of time to see everything we wanted to see in Disneyland and the new California Adventure and Downtown Disney areas -- without feeling as though we had to rush around non-stop to do it. Moreover, the weather was great, and the crowds were manageable. The only slight disappointment was the fact that two really cool rides in Disneyland were closed: the Peter Pan ride, and Space Mountain (apparently a few areas are undergoing improvements and refurbishments for Disneyland's 50th anniversary in 2005).

I've tried to talk a bunch about the trip by way of the descriptions for most of the photos, so I won't say much more here. It was a little weird (but definitely fun) bringing our cameras along on this trip, because we both kind of wanted to avoid taking "the usual" types of not-very-interesting pictures that most people would probably take at a place like Disneyland (ie: pictures of all the rides and stuff). Except for a few instances where something just looked like a really nice picture, we did manage to accomplish that, I think. Oh, and the only thing I really wish I had gotten some photos of (but didn't) was this night-time outdoor show we saw on Saturday called Fantasmic. It was this really amazing fire, water, live-action, and film-based (with giant filmed cartoons projected onto "screens" made of misted water) musical show.
